You might have seen this video which has been doing the rounds on twitter, facebook and youtube, it’s called Newport (Ymerodraeth State of Mind). Ymerodraeth is the Welsh word for empire.
The story behind it is here. We love it – but we thought now was a good time to point out that we ARE in Newport, but not THAT Newport!
We do sometimes have folks calling up and asking -’so, how close are you to the Millenium Stadium?’, or ‘how long does it take to drive to Cardiff?’. The penny drops when we explain that Llys Meddyg is in Newport Pembrokeshire, not in Newport Gwent.
Last year we were lucky enough to have Pamela Wade (award winning NZ based travel writer) come to visit us – I just found this great blog post she wrote on the potential for the Newport/Newport mix up – here it is ‘a little bit of what you fancy’. Enjoy – we did!

An exceptional spa treatment for your feet is one of the benefits of building a clay wood-fired pizza oven! We hope to soon be offering our own wood-fired pizzas to be served in the Kitchen Garden throughout the summer, and the Cellar Bar in the winter months. This type of oven is also perfect for baking whole fish for parties and weddings……MMMmmmmmmmmmmm.

Our own three girls are now supplementing the delicious eggs we get from Andrew, the egg man from Eglwyswrw. We are going to use them for the chocolate brownies and other scruptous cakes in the Kitchen Garden (opening next week, 13th July). Annabelle and Polly love collecting the eggs before school in the morning.
