About our food

We believe that good food makes people happy…
We are very fortunate to have been brought up on good real food. Locally sourced, home grown whenever possible and packed full of flavour.
We’ve been endeavouring to source local produce for many years. In early 2009 Ed began an in-depth study into the story of local seafood and we were shocked to discover the extent of damage that fishing for fashionable seafood has on local stocks. We found that there is an abundance of equally delicious but ‘non fashionable’ fish that gets totally ignored by our fisherman as a result of a limited local market for these fish. With this in mind the Llys Meddyg fish menu reflects what is sustainable, in season, and totally delicious in our Welsh waters.
Our menu is kept as close to home as possible. With the sea at our feet, and the mountains a stone’s throw away, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to local produce. The menu at Llys Meddyg menu would be nothing without our fantastic local suppliers, who really know how to make the most of the incredible produce we have here in Wales.

A family passion for food….
Ed’s brother Rupert owns and runs the very lovely, and totally worth visiting, Snails delicatessen in Rhiwbina, Cardiff.
Lou’s great, great grandmother was one of Queen Victoria’s cooks. Great granny Ruth (her grand-daughter) remembers her hand-written royal cookbook – whatever happened to that? We’d love to get our hands on it!
