Have you got what it takes to be part of our kitchen team? Calm and collected, a passion for seasonal tastes and an inquisitive nature to push your career further. Does the notion of foraging and discovering new tastes excite you? We’d love to hear from you!
Be part of the team…
We’re a family business through and through. Family owned, family run and a warm family welcome for everyone that passes through our door. Llys Meddyg is unique (some might even call it quirky), we like to push knowledge, growth and the concept of ‘normal’. Because if everyone was the same, it would be pretty boring right?
About us…
If you want to get technical, we’re a restaurant with rooms, but we like to think we’re so much more than that! We’re set on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and we like to think of ourselves as a place for people to relax, catch up with friends and explore new tastes and food concepts, whether that’s in our Cellar Bar, Kitchen Garden or Restaurant.
About the role…
At Llys Meddyg, the emphasis for food is on quality. We know that freshness, quality and seasonality are important to our guests, so we work hard to discover local suppliers and producers who support the same beliefs as we do. We also work with our local surroundings and look to nature’s pantry for a lot of our inspiration. Foraging and discovering how nature can make an impact to our flavours is really important to us and should excite you too. Our cooks are flexible and ingenuitive, so you could be producing food for our Kitchen Garden, Restaurant as well as busy functions: that means you’ll have a really varied and exciting workload. We like to break down the boundaries of the kitchen, focusing on your individual skill set and removing titles. That’s why we’re on the hunt for Junior, Senior and Mentor cooks, who are passionate about fresh, seasonal produce, enjoy the buzz of a busy kitchen in a business that’s transforming and have a desire to learn new skills and techniques. Do you think you fit the bill?
What about the nitty gritty of the role?
As part of our kitchen team, you’ll motivate your fellow cooks to prepare food for up to 150 people on busy days. You’ll have an eye for quality, consistency and for portion control. You’ll build good relationships with the front of house team to make sure our guests get exactly what they want, consistently. A qualification in professional cookery would be great, and relevant industry experience is essential. You’ll have an excitement to push the expression of food in our R&D kitchen, testing the development of taste profiles and how our guests discover food. You’ll be flexible as hours of work are variable to meet the needs of the business.
