Sorghum moss installations and pieces by local St Davids artist Graham Hurd-Wood create an uplifting atmosphere where you are embraced by the natural materials around you and a style of food, wine and hospitality that nurtures the senses. Open for drinks and evening meals, the emphasis is on simplicity, with local fresh fish, seafood, meats and salads being the stars. The garden was once the site of a prosperous market garden and in post war times Llys Meddyg sent dahlias and roses via train to be sold at Covent Garden Market in London. Some of the old cold frame bases are still standing and are now used for growing fresh herbs for the kitchen. Families love the enclosed garden area as children are safe from any roads. Complete with private outdoor pods with bench seating and overhead heating.

*Please mention when booking preference for indoor dining or a garden pod.

Once a 15th century mariners tavern, the much fabled Cellar Bar is the oldest part of Llys Meddyg and has a unique atmosphere of curiosity, warmth and conviviality. There’s a magic to the cellar bar unlike any other part of the hotel, it’s flagstone floor the stage of many a Iechyd Da! for hundreds of years.

It is with this air of ancestral hedonism that a carefully crafted selection of fine libations are mixed to soothe, cure and dance with whatever tune takes your fancy.

With the log burner and inglenook fireplace, the Cellar Bar is one of our favourite places for a drink with friends or groups of up to sixteen as well as cosy fireside tables for two.

The inspiration behind our new venture The Smoke Shed was all about re-discovering the lost art of the smokery.
The Smoke Shed’s first product is cold smoked salmon and has been a revelation. In the past, put off by badly farmed salmon, the hand reared, hand fed, slow-grown sustainable salmon come from the cold waters of north west Scotland and are then carefully prepared by hand and delicately smoked using a blend of british hardwoods in our smoke shed at the heart of Llys Meddyg.
After years of testing through the restaurant the smoked salmon is ready to go public. Entered into the Great Taste Awards, Ed’s smoked salmon was rewarded with an “Outstanding” Two Star award.
